At D. CARR LAW, we don’t deny there are thousands of lawyers to choose from, but D. CARR LAW is like jalapeño lime sorbet in a world of vanilla ice cream. Spending time connecting with the community so they know people truly care about them is incredibly important.
D. CARR LAW is sharing monthly campaigns, community engagement projects, and community initiatives to improve the level of inspiration and positivity people feel.
No professional robots exist in this firm. D. CARR LAW cares about the problems you or someone you know may be facing and you deserve to make informed decisions so D. CARR LAW is not afraid to give you what you need to know to identify when a problem exists, when you may need help, and who you can trust.
Encouraging legal literacy is our preventative approach to combating common misunderstands about the legal system viewed by our communities. D. CARR LAW does this creatively through our Legal Literacy Cookbook Series. Think of it like receiving a lesson from civics class in grade school except this is practical stuff most of us weren’t taught. Throughout Devika L. Carr’s legal career, it bothered her how often she heard people say, “I’ve never been in legal trouble so this is new to me and I don’t know what to expect.” Not because she didn’t want to help them, but because she was disappointed they were not already given the free tools they needed to improve their legal literacy and improve their basic understandings of what the legal system is really like, not just the charismatic renditions played out on television.
WORK IN PROGRESS
D. CARR LAW is working with Broward County Libraries to develop a Legal Literacy Seminar and Workshop series focused on two objectives: (1) Provide information regarding specific issues facing the community and (2) Provide an opportunity to provide answers to general legal questions our community members have.
Be sure to check back as dates and locations are finalized over the next couple of months as D. CARR LAW is hoping to begin offering them to the South Florida community beginning September 2017.
D. CARR LAW just wrapped up two big events, but be sure to check back or join our D. CARR LAW COMMUNITY for notifications about our next outreach/engagement event. They are usually free and always a great time!

FEBRUARY 2017: Stories We Love Campaign
February is recognized as a time to celebrate love. At D. Carr Law we help people fight for a fair chance at having a bright future despite arrests or convictions. To kickoff our first campaign, we are sharing Stories We Love because they support our mission and inspire us to help as many people as we can.
Emotion is Universal: February 6, 2017
Emotion is universal and often generated through movement, which is why it’s important to make every movement intentionally, knowing it can change the course of someone’s emotions.
True heroes are those who connect with others through emotion, who believe in brightening the lives of many through compassion, understanding and selfless offerings. Solutions to problems are not always obvious but results become noticeable when someone offers a genuine ability and interest to help.
At D. CARR LAW we extend sincerity when offering our community members real solutions to problems. We do this because our business is built on a promise to brighten the futures of people we care about in the community we love. We know the problems people face cause unwanted emotions but we know there is a way to improve these emotions and transform lives in wonderful ways.
What’s your superpower? What intentional movements do you make to touch the hearts and change the lives of those around you?
“The Present”: February 20, 2017
Millions have witnessed the remarkable story called, “The Present,” which comes to us courtesy of visual artists Jacob Frey and Markus Kranzler.
You can view it here: https://youtu.be/WjqiU5FgsYc
We love this story because it summarizes the common experience of realizing a problem, identifying the negative emotions associated with the problem, and recognizing a solution exists.
At first, the young man is too busy to see what is in front of him: a solution to his problem.
Then, he became curious. What happens next is unexpected! But then, he becomes extremely disappointed. He feels frustrated and pushes his problem to the side by ignoring the solution provided to him, leaving it to appear unwanted.
As time passes, he realizes the solution has an unexpected gift to offer. It has come before him for a reason. And emotion connects them. The present becomes the solution to a problem that has affected him deeply.
The present is in his life to make it better. And he steps outside to accept it.
Legal issues are problems to most people, but at D. CARR LAW, we brighten people’s futures by providing creative solutions to legal issues.
We are in your life to make it better. Step outside and accept it.
Let us help you.
